Therapy Intensives

Therapy Intensives are extended sessions that make space for you to slow down and go deeper without the pressure of the clock, or the lag time between sessions.

3 Sessions in 1

Making Space Psychotherapy offers a high standard of trauma-informed care. We happily offer this option that is not just longer, but therapeutically meaningful.

Individual Internal Family Systems (IFS) Intensives

The additional time allows you to build safety with protective parts, access deeper emotional material, and move toward healing at a pace that feels supportive rather than pressured.

Individual EMDR Intensives

EMDR intensives provide focused time for trauma processing with built-in support for preparation, regulation, and integration. The extended format allows you to work more thoroughly while ensuring you leave feeling grounded and supported.

Couples/Triads Intensives

Couples and triads therapy benefits from time. A 150-minute session allows partners to feel heard, reduces emotional escalation, and creates space for deeper understanding and repair.

*this is a great option to process betrayal, infidelity or other complex issues in your relationship

This format is well-suited if you:

  • feel you are “just getting started” when a regular session ends

  • want deeper progress without weekly interruptions

  • are navigating complex emotions, trauma, or life transitions

  • prefer fewer sessions with more focused work

The idea is that you can get further in your healing journey in a shorter amount of time.

For many clients, this leads to stronger momentum and a more contained therapeutic experience.

150-Minute Sessions

Individual IFS Intensive: $650

Individual EMDR Intensive: $650

Couples/Triads Intensive: $750

Why are extended sessions priced differently?

Longer sessions require sustained clinical focus and allow for deeper therapeutic work. They reduce the stop-start nature of weekly therapy and often support more meaningful progress within fewer overall appointments.

Is this the right option for me?

Intensive sessions and packages are offered based on clinical appropriateness and therapist recommendation. They are not required for treatment, and they are not suitable for all clients.

Important Insurance & Billing Information

While many insurance companies reimburse psychotherapy services, coverage for extended or intensive sessions is not guaranteed. Every plan is different.

  • Receipts will reflect the actual session length and total fee paid

  • We do not alter session length, service type, or fees to meet insurance requirements

  • It is the client’s responsibility to confirm coverage with the insurer prior to booking

Do I need to commit to ongoing intensives?

No. Some clients book a series of intensives, some book a single extended session, and others incorporate them occasionally alongside regular therapy.

If intensives are clinically appropriate for you, your therapist can discuss options with you.

Are intensives emotionally intense?

Therapy can be activating regardless of the length of the session. Keep in mind though that we are trauma therapists, and we "get" how to manage overwhelm with your nervous system. The extra time in these sessions also allow for more grounding and integration time so you can leave feeling oriented and supported.

Why can't I book an intensive in your online booking system?

These sessions require a conversation with your therapist to ensure it is a clinically appropriate option.

Your therapist also needs to be intentional about setting aside the time in their calendar.
