About Us

Making Space Psychotherapy is a modern, down-to-earth clinic that provides high-quality integrative psychotherapy for adults, couples+, teens and children 6+.

This clinic began with just Jenni. When her caseload filled and she couldn't take on more clients herself she helped those who contacted her to find referrals. She realized fairly quickly how difficult it is for the average person to find specialists who have the training required to do this work (and who have room for more clients). Jenni decided to expand her practice and bring other trauma specialists on to support the need in her community in Hamilton. This is how the group clinic came to be. Since then, the clinic has opened a second location in Burlington to service this neighbouring community.

The name "Making Space Psychotherapy" reflects the intention and culture of the clinic.

  • The way we work supports you to make space in your system.

  • We make space for the individual and collective trauma of our local community.

  • The work we do emphasizes the mind-body space.

  • And we make space for our accomplished and dedicated therapists to pursue ongoing learning and excellence.

  • The concept of making space is also a nod to Internal Family Systems (IFS) and what is possible when you acknowledge and work with your own parts!

We are a team of Registered Psychotherapists who work with a number of issues and specialize in trauma and relationships. Each therapist has a masters degree, specialized training and also offers their own niche areas of focus.

We offer 2 locations where we happily serve those in the Greater Hamilton Area, the Halton/Burlington area, and across Ontario.

We feel strongly that a holistic approach to trauma work is essential for deep healing. We therefore offer advanced approaches such as Attachment Focused AF-EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Parts Work, Somatic, Polyvagal, Sensorimotor, Emotionally Focused Therapy, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Resource Tapping, Sand Tray Therapy, Sound Therapy and more.

Our work with families & couples is secular, anti-oppressive and strengths-based using EFT, Gottman, Narrative, Family Systems and other modalities. We welcome LGBTQ2IA+ couples, polyamorous couples, triads, and couples in non-monogamous relationships.

We are also passionate about providing a trauma-informed and responsive physical space for those who wish to work with us in person.

We believe in your ability to feel more peaceful, present, and alive.

When you are in a state of stress it can feel crowded inside. When you can "make space" you can feel more comfortable in your own skin, just being you...and we help you to do that! Think "mind-body".

If you are reading this there is a desire in you to feel better, and no matter what size that light is inside it is the start of something important. It's the start of a new relationship with yourself.

If you are ready, let's start this journey together.

We take a lot of care connecting you with a therapist from our team. And we feel strongly about providing a free consultation with the actual therapist you are considering working with.

Our clinic is trauma-informed, which means we put thought into your experience.  We consider what it means for your sensitive nervous system to make contact with us, and to enter our peaceful space.

We are a modern clinic in every sense of the word. We keep up with current research; practice integratively with multiple styles of therapy; and we continue to participate in high quality training and consultation. Our office staff enjoy working remotely, and respond quickly to your emails, texts.

Our therapists each have their own niche specialties within the spectrum of trauma and relationships.
You therefore receive high quality support so you can comfortably process the things that are coming up for you.

We consider that you are a complex human with layers of unique stuff and coping strategies that you had to come up with in order to survive...oftentimes as a young child. These strategies may now not be enough or you may feel in conflict about them.

You can work with one of our qualified Registered Psychotherapists near you

The land on which our clinics operate have been the traditional land of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas of the Credit for thousands of years. Making Space Psychotherapy and its staff are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land. We also acknowledge and have gratitude for the elements of our work in various modalities that may come from ancient, ancestral and Indigenous ways of knowing and healing.
